Join us for a one-time introduction, exclusively for new clients, with no previous experience required. This class will give you a brief history of our Krav-based system with integrated wrestling, BJJ, Thai Boxing and weapons training. Then you’ll go over basic movements and techniques, and address any questions you may have. Immediately following your 30-minute introductory lesson, you will attend a full-length self-defense class, running between 45-55 minutes. We cover practical techniques and philosophies for surprising and realistic violence civilians would most likely encounter. This introductory course is only $20 and you can bring a friend FOR FREE!
Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, this reality-based system is designed to teach real self defense in the shortest possible time. Learn to defend against common chokes, grabs, and bearhugs, as well as weapons such as guns, knives, and sticks. Just as important, we teach people to function during the stress and shock of a sudden, violent encounter. Tested on the battlefield and in the streets, Krav Maga’s practical approach to self defense will make you safer and more secure.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling with the goal of gaining a dominant position, using joint-locks and choke holds to force an opponent to submit. The main emphasis in BJJ is to dominate the opponent through application of technique and force them to quit (submit). It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be trained for self-defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring, commonly referred to as ‘rolling’, and live drilling play a major role in training. By using the techniques of BJJ, a smaller practitioner, male or female, can control much larger and stronger opponents and actually force the larger opponent to submit.
Jiu Jitsu literally translates to, “the gentle art.” The philosophy is that you not only can, but actually should, learn to avoid the use of strength. The individual should be able to obtain a position of dominance without using your strength, rather than necessarily immediately attempting to make the opponent submit.
Class Duration: 60 minutes
Intro classes offered three times a week at the following times:
Monday 6 p.m. | Thursday noon | Saturday 9 a.m.
What to expect in your first class
The class structure is as follows:
- A short warm up to get ready for the techniques being taught for the day.
- A breakdown of 2 to 3 techniques with time to practice them.
- After the technique session, the class will do some controlled sparring or “rolling” as it is called in BJJ. New students aren’t expected to roll, but are encouraged to try. They will only be placed with experienced students to help ease them into it.
